Finished the third day which is cario resistance and power. I'm really hoping this program will make me a stronger runner. I am sweating bullets at the end and my house is currently 55 degrees, so its quite a work out. So far I'm doing these all in my KSOs on hardwood floors and haven't had any issues in my feet. I'm going to continue this program as a start building up more miles in my running. Thinking about doing another marathon in the fall to give me all summer to build up my speed. Sick of being slow.

I think I am going to try and start doing Insanity maybe next week.
BTW, I was born/raised in S. Idaho (near twin falls) and basically spent most summers/falls running around in the sawtooths with my dad and friends. Miss it something fierce being out here in the flatland....

Is it sawtooths or sawteeth? I'm honestly asking; I don't know much about it.

Jake, its worth it to try it. I'm not usually one for videos, but this one seems to be the real deal, really hope it improves my running along the way.
I'm in Moscow, I've never been to the sawtooths (yes zeitheld not sawteeth:) ), but need to get down there at some point, and do some backpacking.

I've got a few engineering credit hours as a Vandal so I know the Moscow area a bit (as it was about 15 years ago or so) And it is Sawtooth Mountains so they are called the Sawtooths by locals for right or wrong I used run all over around the Copper and Stanley Basins (north of Sun Valley) and over on the eastern edges of the Boise National Forest. Workmate has promised to bring in a few of the DVDs for me to try out, hopefully he remembers.

Interesting I've lost about 5 pounds in two weeks with no real work out regiment, kind of naturally gravitated to intervals because I'm more of a sprinter.

Have you ever done P90x? If so how does it compare? Today is my day 45 of P90x so half way done. I am already thinking of what to do after I finish. A large number of people do Insanity then combine the favorites from the two.
I am loving doing the workouts in my KSO's!! It is probably optimistic for a totally novice runner but my goal is to run the Boilermaker in July (15k) in them. My feet, ankles, arches, balance, toe splay have all improved but I have done very little actual running yet. The down side of P90x is pure exhaustion almost every day. Do think you could do Insanity and train for a marathon at the same time? I know my legs and core are stronger than they have ever been. That has to help in some way.

I've never done P90X but its on my to do list at some point. I started with Insanity since I wouldn't need any weights or pullup bars to do it. All I know is what I've read about the comparison, I guess the Insanity cardio makes the P90X cardio seem easy. In October I started Marathon training and Insanity at the same time, I was a pretty novice runner and found that my legs were just too tired to get in good runs once my mileage started to increase, so I stopped Insanity so I could focus on my runs. I finished my marathon and now am doing Insanity along with 3 day a week running. I think my legs are just much stronger then before my marathon so I can now handle both where before I couldn't. So I guess doing both will be completely up to your physical level. I say try it and if its to much you can always stop.

got my insanity dvds that i am borrowing from a friend. will probably start this weekend Nice! Have fun, I've been taken down the last 2 days with a crazy cold, so I'll probably restart week two since I've missed so many days this week. I have my first day of the week sunday, with saturdays as my rest day. It works best for my schedule. Let me know how it goes for you.

Idaho. That's what I was thinking. My body won't hesitate to tell me what it thinks. I am going to focus on strength and weight gain with some low mile runs as cardio fillers. Once I am done with my 90 days I will go to some endurance training. Keep us posted on your progress. Insanity is next for me.

I'm going to start Insanity at the end of this month as well and plan to use my KSO's. I've been doing P90x since mid-December and lost about 24 pounds. I think technically (with days missed not included) I am at day 60. Probably time for more pictures.
I always workout barefoot. I have a pair of expensive $120 Nike's that I bought specifically for doing P90x. But my feet are extremely flat and even with orthopedics my non-arches hurt crazy bad. I also have "arthritis" in my right knee (at age 30!). It has to do with my knee moving side to side and wearing out the cartigile over the years for not wearing the right inserts. But, it only hurts me now when I do some yoga moves that puts more pressure on that knee. I was limping before I started P90x, and now it's only during yoga x. The doc pretty much said I need to continue working out or it will get worse. How's that for incentive!
However, things are slowing down and I think Insanity is the next step (neighbor has been doing it for the past month and has lost 15 lbs). I've been bouncing around in weight between 181 and 184 (6' 0") for the past couple of weeks. I think I'll try it with and without the VFF's. I have carpet so it's easy to workout barefoot.
As for P90x vs Insanity, from what I've read, Insanity has a lot more cardio and higher intensity than P90x. P90x has a lot of strength training. Don't get me wrong though, P90x is hard. I burn on average 1000 cals to 1300 per workout with P90x. Plyo from P90x is probably what Insanity workouts are like (again haven't started the program, only watched the fit test dvd). It's probably like what you get with Plyo jump knee tucks (I've hit 204 for peak heart rate doing those) or rock star hops.

Balander....I think your right. Insanity is like an hour of Plyo/Core which sounds great to me. Wow 204!! That is very high. I have never been above 187. I do the jump knee tucks like Dom both times for the full 30 secs. Maybe my Polar is whacky because the other morning my resting bpm was 46. I think Lance Armstrong's resting rate is around that. Keep us posted on how it goes. I will be joining you soon enough.
