Yesterday I did my first attempt to barefootstyle running on my VFF. Well, not really the first time I ran on them, I run a lot at the dog agility field, but I want to really run now, cover kilometers... So out I went, focusing on body posture and foot placement (using a digital metronome for the right rhythm) and just ran until I had to stop due to bad physical condition, walked a bit an ran back home. I measured the distance I ran at Google Maps: I ran the unbelievable distance of 500 meters! Oh boy, I have to work on that body!

Use your toes or edge of your foot to dig in... I find I have better grip on slick rocks and muddy banks in my KSO's than with the Trek soles..... With the KSO's you have more surface area and the ability to grip the slippery surfaces.... The mud was flat, on the crown between the ruts on a grass/gravel driveway after heavy persistent rain, and there was nothing for the toes or edge of foot to dig into. The dog was pulling on the lead, I was turning to face it, weight balance all wrong, and a twisting moment on the feet. Result: me slipping and landing on my gluteus maximus. The puppy found it all amusing for a couple of seconds, then ran off, with me in pursuit. Yeah sometimes there isn't anything to dig your toes into. I have had the same issue with wet floors at work. Thanks to my aikido training I have not been injured but I have had a couple of slip/fall incidents in my KSOs. Looking at trying the trek sport for my next pair since they have more traction on the soles. Ive been really happy with my vibs. Mine are about 10 months old and I work in them 5 days a week plus wearing them everywhere else I can and they are only just starting to show wear in some of the toe pocket seams. So happy my knee pain that used to be almost disabling after a few hours on my feet, has just about disappeared. I work in a local restaurant kitchen and did 6 hours in my KSOs at work today. Wore them out pulling weeds in the 60 acre horse pasture where I board my mare on Monday.

Today I broke in my new Komodos I woke up early, and since I live on the Jersey Shore I went to the Boardwalk in AC and ran about 3 miles to wear them in a bit, going to the gym tonight after work for a short 3-4 mile run on the treadmill. I love my vibrams! These are my 2nd pair and I couldn't be happier!

In my all-black KSOs, this evening I walked round a local man-made lake (3 miles) passing lots of people, none of which made any comment to me whatsoever about my footwear. Even stopping lots of times to take photos, I completed the circuit in just over an hour.
My feet are now telling me that that three miles was plenty. My forefoot area is feeling slightly tender. Coincidentally, this morning in the shower I found the skin on my left foot was peeling in the forefoot area, as if a callus was being shed.
Well, my feet had better get used to it. Next weekend I might be doing a wee bit more than three miles a day. (Yes, I will be sensible and take along normal shoes just in case.)

I really think you should have been hanging from the monkey bars by your feet!

Another 1.9 miles in 39 minute, but this one included a bit of up and down (approx 60 metres both ways) in my all-black KSOs. My feet are complaining a little after getting home, so I'm using Komodosports as cushioned slippers whilst they recover.
Whilst walking I have been observing my technique and trying to improve it. Listening to my footsteps is instructive.

This week, I've run on a trail about 18-20 km in 1.4h and 2 days later a 45 min loop (~7km). I love barefoot running ;-)

Fire company car wash fundraiser in my Sprints. Sadly we didn't do too well and my vffs got soaking wet but it was fun.

I really think you should have been hanging from the monkey bars by your feet! I experienced that the Spyridon lack the flexibilty to do so.

6 km in my trusted Bikilas last night, and a PR of 11.15 km/h (for me it's fast) average speed! I was flying!
