Did a 7 mile off road race yesterday in 45-50degree temps. This is pretty much my longest run ever, all off road, some water crossings (water temp was cold!), plenty of mud, rocks, etc. And I did it all in my Komodosport LS! I wasn't sure which shoes to wear: KSO's (easier to clean up), Brooks (sacrifice them since I never wear, let alone run in them), or the KomodoSport LS - my go to shoes for everything now: running, lifting, even to work! They are like that perfect pair of old jeans I that they just fit and feel right all the time! Needles to say, the run was a blast and couldn't have packed better shoes to do it in! Now I just hope they come clean!

Just got home from the hardest 7k run I've ever done. It is the same route through some awesome trails built in a series of river valleys that I always do. Tonight was different, as it was -10, and we are currently experiencing white-out conditions. There was a trampled base layer of snow/ice before today, and a fresh 10cm of powder down. I went out in my soft star runamoc dash. My feet were warm the whole time, and no snow got in despite being buried with every step. I had no traction problems, and was really pleased with how they performed. I couldn't ask for any more from my footwear!
Though I run this exact route when it's warm and sunny all the time, it's MUCH harder in winter. It's got a lot of steep climbs, drop offs, and lots of turns. The trail is rutted, making for awkward footing. Add the 10cm of powder snow and every step is harder. You also can't see hidden obstacles or flat spots. That was a challenging run, and took a good 12 minutes longer than normal for me. I'll be making that route a regular thing this winter. Loved it!

I spent Thursday through Sunday walking all around Paris with my family. We got a very good workout especially going up and down all of the subway stairs.

I worked in a polling station for the UK's Police Commissioner vote on Thursday. Wore my Speeds all day. Nobody commented.
In some places I do get double-takes, but mainly from kids.

Last night, I had dog agility training in the freezing cold, the grass was already getting white, wearing my Spyridons. Everyone asked me if I didn't have cold feet, but they were pretty warm after training!

Yesterday I returned my Centurylink DSL modem while wearing my Speed XCs.
I was a little bit cold, as I was wearing my shorts at the time..but it was worth it not to be wearing normal shoes.

I blew my $100's on a second Land Rover for my wife two weeks ago (which I drove home barefoot and she followed wearing classics just incase it didn't make it home). Needless to say the toy fund needs to grow again. Of course, with another LR to repair this may never happen.....

I got my first broken bone while wearing my Komodosports. I took a kick to the foot at quidditch practice and ended up with a fractured left pinky toe. My brother is visiting for the holidays, so it needs to hurry the hell up and heal so we can do some more hiking. It barely hurts, so it might be hard to stay motivated to baby it It's entirely possible that I'd have only soft-tissue damage if I'd been wearing my old tennis shoes (it was pretty close to a worst-case scenario kind of impact for VFF's), but I'd also be on crutches about once a year from ankle sprains. I regret nothing!

I regret nothing! Sorry to hear... I break toes all the time but never while wearing my VFF's.... If hiking in shoes with a toe box just buddy tape it. If in VFF's, use about two inches of a popsicle stick, a small piece of gauze at the part under the foot and some tape. Shove it in the toe pocket and go. You'll find the Trek sole versions work nicely as splints and are comfortable with broken toes.... I've hiked many a mile with them in there
