i've been seeing lots of crazy sales online for the KSO and the classics. is vibram going to discontinue the kso? has anybody heard anything about this, or are a bunch of the online stores just clearing out for new models and new versions of models like the KSO. i'm all for getting some new colors in KSOs and classics, as long as the actual model sticks around. anyone heard anything about this?

I haven't heard anything about the Kso's or Classic's getting discontinued, but the Men's Sprints are no longer available from Vibramfivefingers.com and I have heard that Bormio and Trek LS are soon to be discontinued due to poor sales in these models.

Sadly, the Sprint/Classic and even KSO color options have been greatly reduced. The situation is better in EU, but I expect this to change soon as well. Sad, after all those extra models, I still have the the Classics as the number one

The Sprint, Classic, and KSO are fine.  The sprint is not listed on the site because they are out of stock.  We contacted them to make sure they are not being discontinued. The Trek LS and Bormio have already been discontinued.

For over a year I've been seeing "closeout" sales everywhere on the Smartwools and Jane's (both Performa and no).  Are they being discontinued?  I kind of expected it to happen months ago.  Can't say I'd be too sad about the Smartwools (the eco-rubber is just so friggin stiff on my pair of those and causes so much toe nailbed pain I rarely wear them) but I LOVE my Jane's for house slippers.

They were discontinued months upon months ago like back in August of 2011.  The Moc, Preforma, and Preforma Jane have all been discontinued a long time ago.  Same as the SmartWool Classics.

That has to do with several things.  First of which is the American market place.  We like things to be on sale before we buy them.  In the beginning they could not keep up with demand.  They made sure to ration supply to keep demand high.  Now that they have two production factories they can produce more shoes then there is a need for really.  This means that retailers will lower the price to compete for your buisness.  It also speaks to the price point that the shoes are manufactured and sold to vendors.  You can tell how much of a mark up/profit they make by how willing they are to cut the price.  This does not mean they are going to stop producing those styles because they are on sale.  Some of the styles say clearance/closeout but they just means they are getting rid of that particular color.

Bormio and trek LS not being much sold? well, it is kind of difficult to find them almost anywhere now (maybe due to being discontinued, but...); and I wonder if they realize the price tag for those is sooo high, and this is the reason behind this. Maybe if the reduce their profit margin, those would be best sellers.
