Hansgruber...IMO, hands down the Bikila is the best for road running.  I've run in them and KSO's and will take the Bikilia in a second over the KSO's for the road.  For trails though, give me back my KSO's!

Day ??, been going to gym 4 days a week, and signed up for the Wieght Management program at the YMCA.  Only complaint is that it is hard to do the bands strength training with KSOs.  In normal shoes the bands would slip and hold at the arch, in KSOs there is no arch, but otherwise, its time to buy some MOCs for yoga and some Treks for regular day to day shoes.

Down 25 pounds so far, under 300!!!!

Can a fat lad join in this discussion too? Smiley

I'm 210 and I have a ways to go until 150. Smiley I have a mini goal of 180 though.  I'm picking up my Sprints today!
I've been walking for a month, I was doing C25k before that but picked up nasty plantar fasciitis in my right foot! OUCH!
So I'm hoping the VFF's will cure that over time.

Hey Kittee, how do you like your Sprints? How are your workouts going?

Hi Everyone!

I started out at 431lbs 2 years ago. Had bariatric surgery and got down to 320lbs about 3 months ago and plateaued. I always wanted to run / hike but my knees and ankles just wouldn't hold the weight. I was wearing orthodics in my sneakers and hiking boots but was still in great pain.

I read about barefooting a few months ago and decided to give it a try. I started out completely barefoot on the grass and on my street. At this point I had already started trail running in the mountains but my "proper" boots were causing more pain than I could bear. So I decided at that time to take the plunge and start running the trails barefoot.

I picked up a pair of KSO TrekSports and headed out to the mountains. I can honestly say (with proper ramp up time) I haven't had a single pain since then. My family and friends still think I am lying but once they see me running the trails in my beloved VFF TrekSports they know I am telling the truth. I decided to go with a full barefoot lifestyle. I wear my VFFs almost 100% of the time with the exception for work. In the case of work, I went with a pair of Nike+ Frees. You do lose a lot of that ground feel in the Nikes but it doesnt matter much while sitting at a desk all day. I am still trying to break in the idea of VFFs at work Smiley

Oh, before I forget, in the last two months I have dropped down to 300 (so close to breaking that 200 mark) and my goal is to be a fit 220lbs. Gym everyday and trail running on the weekends. Ahh what a great life to be so active again ! Smiley

Thanks all for listening.

It's tough on your legs to run in VFF's. I get foot pain too. I can deal with it, but I can't wait till it stops. How's everyone doing on here? I'm still trying to lose my "cruise" weight.

Yeah for fatties! I'm 348 as of Sunday and started running 11 days ago. I bought VFF's a few days into it and while my calves are on fire today, I plan on continuing to build up my barefoot strength. I always hated running but now I am really excited about it and loving it.

Check out the blog! I would love for ya'll to follow my journey and I would love to follow yours!

I lost 6 out of 7 of the pounds I gained on the cruise. I'm happy to almost be at my "pre-cruise" weight.

Great job! I've decided to only weigh myself once a week on Sundays so this last week I weighed in at 348, so down 9 pounds from the last time i found a fat man scale.

Last night I ran totally barefoot, it was incredible how fast your stride shortens and changes. I am excited to do it again with my five fingers now that I know what it should feel like. Running every night and watching my intake like a hawk! I am stoked about being healthy.

What distance did you run? Did you get pain in your feet? I get some pain in my feet, like when I used to lift weights, that kind of pain.

yeah I've got some foot pain now that I am dealing with, just my right foot and it seems to be the normal top of foot pain everyone seems to get. I'm going to give it a few days off and then I'll be back to building the distance.
