Kids are always a great motivator. I just wish I could have the energy my munchkins have. Maybe when I lose weight I'll get a little closer.

I got my KSO TreckSports on Sep. 3, and Have been wearing them every day. Since getting out of the Army I haven't really been active on my feet, due to really bad shin splints, and as I read another member saying, my doc told me that I wasn't built for running to! I was sad because I used to run about 8 miles a day while stationed in Ft. Bragg, NC, and LOVED every minute of it. I'm now 27, and weigh 281.5 pounds, and HATE the way I look and feel. I can't stand to look in the mirror and see this fat guy looking back at me!

I bought the VFF's in hopes of getting rid of the impact injuries I was getting with the "normal" shoes, and so far it's been pretty nice! I don't feel a whole lot of pain when I go for a light jog, but I'm still learning how to walk/run in these new shoes as well, so I'm sure that the pain will subside very soon. I do love being barefoot, and tend to walk on the balls (mid part) of my feet much more when I am. My main focus is to get down to at least 200 pounds, and be nice a fit like I was in the Army.

Thank you to the OP for starting this thread! It's nice to know that a fat guy has a place to get encouragement! I read through most of the stores, and am inspired from what I have read!

Ran 6 today.

Favorite comment from the trial, " You are pretty big to run with that little cushion.".

With cushion I could not run.  Wink

I've also got that before. With running shoes I got major shin splints. Im 6.3 and about 98KG's, so about 216lbs. I'm quite a big guy, but when I run I feel light on my feet and I haven't had one injury with the VFF's.

HOw long have you been running in your KSOs? I've had my komodos for about 4 months now and haven't done a whole lot of running with them, but I;m beginning to. i just can't do a whole lot of running with it. Even at a slower pace. I start getting sore in my calves and shins. SO i'm trying interval to get better at it. My feet will hurt like heck the next morning though.

I bought my komodos to strengthen my calves and to lose weight. I started around 239 lbs at 5' 10". i'm sitting at 226 right now and i'm looking forward to getting down below 200 if possible. I started using them for P90X and has worked wonders. When i wore regular running shoes, i'd always feel a strain in my lateral plantar ... probably because of slippage. But VFFs are so much like a sock that i don't feel the uncomfortable strain. I just did 10 miles mountain biking for the first time with my friend on saturday. I used Merell trail gloves for them and it was great. Very exhausting, but i burnt 1400 calories and after counting calories for the rest of the day, i burnt 3,900 calories and only consumer 2,900 calories.

I feel slimmer already. I can't imagine doing any more of my workouts in anything other than barefoot shoes. I'm going to do intervals at the gym again today.

Any Fatties in the San Francisco Bay Area want to meet up and do some outdoor / indoor workout? I'd love to have some motivation to push harder with a like minded group. Unlike most other fit people I work out with, the mindset of going from having sagging man-boobs and pot bellies to slim washboard abs is NOT the same as just regularly working out to stay fit. I'd love to go workout with others Fat Fingers.

330lb guy here. I'm typically around 290-305, and am happy with that weight but have been working 70+hrs a week for a few months and my cardio has suffered, as well as some of my weight lifting (I'm a bit of an amateur powerlifter).

Regardless, I love VFFs! My 4E-6E (weighted towards the 6) wide feet have never been more comfortable in a shoe than in my Komodosport LSs, and I lost the knee and foot pain I used to get on occasion when running or going on long hikes (I've also never twisted my ankle in them yet, even on sorta technical hiking trails ... and I used to be a bit plagued by that). I've been forced by football and track to get used to running, and have always enjoyed hiking and climbing, but these shoes definitely add enjoyment to all that.

-- Update -- Injury? ---

I started jogging (on tar) 2.5 miles over lunch, 4 days a week, and a little over 2 weeks in noticed some pain in the ball of my right foot one morning (It felt perfect the day before). I've ran / jogged / hiked / played Ultimate Frisbee / etc in VFFs before with no lasting foot, knee, or shin soreness, but most of it was on dirt or grass. I've also been wearing VFFs as my everyday shoes for a few months now. I know my recent jogging was probably just getting into things too fast, but I'm still having a hard time getting a prior concern out of my head. Can a guy of my size really pull off running a few days a week in VFFs (especially on tar) without damage?

Sooo... after a brief incident in my family, I stopped my plan after only one day. But I started up first thing this morning before i went to school.
Woke up, ate a thing of yogurt (man that word doesnt look like it is spelled correctly) took my adhd meds and waited for them to kick in before going on my first morning run I have ever done in my life. And I have to say, it was exhilarating. The best feeling I have ever had. I was stunned I felt so good, especially after a break up the night before Smiley. One run. and it has already changed my outlook on life.

Now all I need is to read born to run and I will be good. Smiley

First day of C25K complete Smiley

I'm 5'11  280 pounds.  I have had some KSO's for about 8 or 9 months.  Just bought a pair of the remixes.  I am joining a 24 hour gym in town.  I need to lose weight and get to feeling better.
