I'm based out of Sendai, Japan- not exactly the hub of the universe that Tokyo is. Today I saw another foreign student in my class of 30 wearing blue KSO's. Very surprising (i've never seen anyone else wearing them in 8 months in Japan) but the guy went way up in my book (black KSO's here- anything else is suicide in japan)

Wow nice find LOL! I saw (I think) the same girl in VFFs in a couple other pics. The internet -- what a place!

This morning on the Bowery--no longer the skid row of Manhattan, btw--man walking in blue Sprints. It would have been cool if I had been wearing my VFFs, but I was actually barefoot doing my usual walk, sans shoes, to my office. I don't think he noticed.

I saw someone at the gym wearing what I remember to be black KSO's about a month and a half back. This was before I had any, but now I have multiple pair. I personally wear my grey/orange/black classics to the gym. They're great for lifting weights in.

Do you encounter any other barefooters in NYC?

I've seen a few barefooters in NY--glimpsed at a distance. Flip flops and sandals are everywhere in warm weather here--so exposed feet are quite acceptable nowadays--though there are still people who are horrified by the trend. I've been walking around regularly in bare feet this rather cool summer. Pavement hasn't been too hot yet. Thought I'd have more trouble with glass and grit, but other than a tiny sliver once or twice, I've come through unscathed. I've been wearing barefoot shoes for several years, but began actual barefooting more recently as an experiment. So far, so good.
Having seen a number of people wearing VFFs in the city, I'm beginning to think the barefoot concept is catching on. Whether that leads to more bare feet on the public sidewalks I don't know. The physical benefits and enjoyment are there either way.

I've never seen anyone else wearing them, here in Central Texas (Austin). I especially like when the cute girls fawn over them, exclaimin' they're the coolest shoes ever! (I agree!) I can usually be seen wearing my blue camo KSO's out and about, or my 'frogfeet' (grey/clay/palm?- the greyish ones with green between the toes) while running.

You know, it's funny -- I think when some girls see VFFs online, they immediately drop a few WTFs and cringe. However, in "real life" the reactions I get -- primarily from women (perhaps to my wife's chagrin) -- are extremely positive. I almost wonder if VFFs signal confidence, as in, anyone who is willing to wear such a different footwear in public must have a great deal of confidence, which is attractive (to both women and men).

I was at a music festival this past weekend in Floyd, VA and saw a number of people in VFFs. One or two in classics and probably three in KSOs. People had plenty of questions for me about my shoes and the response was resoundingly positive. One person even said that she was going to get them as a wedding present for her best friend.
But the funniest thing that happened involving the VFFs was that I got "air quoted" by a 7 or 8 year old. I was taking a break from poi spinning and he came up and said, "So, tell me about your "shoes" (complete with the air quotes)." I replied, "They're not "shoes" (with air quotes), they are SHOES and I love 'em." He slowly nodded his head and walked away. I then turned to my partner and said I couldn't believe that I just got air quoted by a little kid. Unbelievable.

Well, Im standing on the corner of lafayette Arcoss the street from the public Heading down to the lone star cafe Maybe get a little conversation Drink a little red wine Standing in the shadow of clifton chenier Dancing the night away
Well...We just chatted a couple of minutes and I told him about BirthdayShoes.com.

Cute boy at Starbuck's. We had a bonding moment. It was rad.
More recently a co-worker. The other day I spied them on him. He had just gotten them the previous weekend. I had been wearing mine to work for over a month and he had no idea I wore them. It was funny.

11:30 this morning I saw a guy in New Haven with red sprints on. It was at the corner of Crown and Church Streets. I was stuck behind a school bus for four light changes so by the time I was able to go he was gone. I would have taken a pic if the circumstances were better.
By the way. I spoke to the sales rep at North Cove Outfitters in Old Saybrook, Ct and he said they sold 65 pair of FF's in the first two weeks. very promising. I may have written this before but I'm old and forgetful. Kevin
