Well I think I've answered the question of how Trek's would work while golfing in wet conditions...

I played 18 holes last weekend (my first FULL round in them).  There was an issue with the sprinkler system, which had run for 6 hours the night before and the course was soaked - I mean standing water and casual water on every hole.  They would have closed the course if there wasn't a tournament planned that day, that's how wet it was.

I didn't slip once and after two holes never actually thought about my footing while swinging.  The only drawback was that my feet got pretty wet, but it was a warm day so no worries.  If it had been cold then they wouldn't have been viable but in the summer time - not a problem.

BTW if you haven't read my previous posts about golfing in Treks, I'm a 6 handicapper, pretty serious about my golf and am amazed at how the Treks feel while playing.  If they come out with a cold weather or waterproof pair of Treks I will not hesitate to buy a pair so I can use them for golf, etc. year round here in Colorado.

So the bottom line is that I'm sold, the new golf shoes I bought this spring are in the closet - Treks on the course for now on.

Ciao

I've played 54 holes in my Treks and have no intention of going back to regular golf shoes.  I haven't encountered the kind of water you describe but I can report much of the same----no slippage, great for reading greens, and just plenty of VFF goodness carrying over to golf.

What else could you want?

+1

They are great, after you get the playing partners to shut up about them.  That drives me nuts.  I am a fan of telling people how I use them and where they can get a pair (if they ask), but hearing comments for 3-4 hours?  Enough is enough.  I am wearing them not you and I am not forcing you to try them.  I even had one guy ask a marshal if they were "legal."  What a bouche dag.

IDIOT!  About a month ago I asked the pro at my home course if there was any rule against playing barefoot - NO, so obviously VFF are DEFINITELY OK.

The guys I played with last week commented about them.  There was a younger guy who said that a friend of his had a pair and how he gave him sh*t about them... until he tried them on and he was amazed at good they felt.  I have found that the younger guys "get it" more than old dogs - now women, that's a different story.  As far as my girlfriend is concerned, the dork factor is way too high - her quote is "that's not hot".

I've only had them a couple of months now, but am at the point where I'm not conscious of them when I'm wearing them in public so if I get weird looks or comments I either don't notice or just don't care anymore.  Gotta please the girlfriend though!  Grin

A bit off topic but interesting nevertheless.  During a PGA Tour Tournament broadcast last week, one of the commentators (I cannot remember which one) was talking about if the pros could play in bare feet they would.  That is how much they want to know the feel of the greens and sand consistency.  I guess there is some sort of rule about bare feet on Tour.  I have a buddy that plays in bare feet (actually got the CC to change the rule about it).  He says it is like no other golfing experience.

I'd imagine the ban on barefoot golfing on the pga tour is largely due to sponsorship money. Vibram really needs to sponsor a pro golfer. Too bad they'd never be able to meet the new demand.

Thanks for your golfing report.  I love golf and this makes me real tempted to try my VFF's on the course.  My only real concern is what other golfers would say I guess I just realized I am to OLD to worry about THAT!!

I will try it this week!

? do you have to use a shorter tee now that you stand closer to the ground??? (just kidding Grin).

Forgot to mention....

Every cart girl struck up a prolonged conversation about my Treks.  Which coincided with my golf buddies ending their harassment about my Capt Cave Man feet...

I've played two rounds in my KSOs, and can't imagine ever wearing traditional golf shoes again. One of the benefits of wearing VFFs over time is the natural enhancements to your agility and balance. Two attributes that are of extreme importance in a golf swing.

I just feel so grounded and steady in my stance while wearing my VFFs. My Trek Sports will be here tomorrow, and I'll likely give them a try next. Though, I actually was thinking of going the complete other route and playing in my Classics, too. Just have to try to stay out of the sand.

Not much ridicule from my golfing buddies, two of whom play in their sandals. Not golf sandals, but flip-flop type leather sandals.
