Hello all;
As the subject says, I am a newbie but not only on minimalistic shoes (Komodosport LS) but in running too....
I must say that I am fairly fit and I am used to walk barefoot so I guess this is an advantage to start.
On Saturday I went for my first run with the Komodo (1 mile) and boy my calves are sore but I was expecting this. I am wearing the shoes as much as I can, at home, and to go to the gym so I break them in since they fit quite tight.
With standard shoes I can run 5 miles so what would you recommend my program should be.....?
Thanks

Welcome to BirthdayShoes!
After injuring myself, I did a gradual transition to VFFs, running only once a week in them for the first two months, usually half the distance of my average runs, which were five miles.
I'd recommend searching the forums for TMTS. You'll find some good advice on transition programs.

Welcome Icarusflies00! I'm a newb here too. Based on the research I've done and according to the Vibram website, you should cut your VFF runs to 10% of your normal mileage for at least the first few weeks. Every other week , increase by 10%. Your mileage may vary

Crazy, my calfs are almost never sore from barefoot and VFF running. However, I did have some soreness in my right MCL one day, then a sore achilies tendon the other. Thankfully after some R.I.C.E. and a good nights rest , no issues.
