Thought I'd keep this as a side topic to describe my findings with the spray Cleanthes found from
www.peditech.co.uk on the "Funky" footwear and then add it to the main topic as success or failure from my point of view. I'll be reserving the second post of this topic for the results also but feel free to leave comments along the way!
First ImpressionsWill add a picture later but this foot spray comes in your standard 100ml spray bottle, claims of it having a 360 spray usage appear to be correct as it sprays in any direction including while upside down, perfect for easy application. Claims are that it is guaranteed to work (which matches with the websites 100% satisfaction or refund policy), targets the cause - which is the bacteria that create the odours, it offers 7 day protection (after the initial 7 days to cleanup the bacteria on your feet currently) and it lets your skin breathe. Based on the information, each 100ml bottle lasts 8 months on the basis of using 4 sprays of it on your weekly use (assumably one on top and bottom of foot focused more towards the toes). It is also aerosol free and does not contain hydrogen peroxide, to note, it should not be used on open cuts or if allergic to the ingredients. Now on to the first usage.
Day 1Used once on both VFFs (my KSOs) and feet directly (2 sprays on each foot as per instructions) and found a strong and fresh scent with an alcoholic tint to it which it contains so was easily expected. It appears to have easily masked the scent from the VFFs and would be much more pleasant than smelly feet smells if it lasts through tomorrow. No irritations etc observed and feet feel quite happy also.
End of day seems like the spray has at least held it's own for today which is what I should expect for the first week - noticed some smell still but it's definitely weaker that was earlier and this was considering it was my general gym day (mixed cardio/muscle training) so I'll see how it handles on a more casual day. One thing to note was that the shoes themselves just smelt virtually odourless without my feet in them once I'd finished work and was getting back into them for the day, if the feet themselves are fixed of their smell by the spray as planned, then the smell in the shoes should be gone completely.
Day 2-7Odour from the VFFs seems to be just residual, quick wash of your choice leaves them fresh without smell, going to continue to test spray for cleaning up the foot smell and spray the VFFs as needed (and hopefully not needed afterwards)!
