SPIH-R-ih-DaaNWe can't get them yet in EU. However, I'd suggest spy'ree-don rather than spih-rih'don. I assume your "aa" is the schwa "ə" sound? The alternatives rhyme with "spirit-on" or "spy-ridden". The other question is whether or not it was designed to sound right when pronounced according to the rules of Italian spelling. Then again, the USA pronounces Nissan as knee-sawn, so all bets are off.

I finally got a pair of Spyridons today. They feel very nice, and very rugged. They fit a bit tighter than the KSO's, but They still remain true to size. Overall, a very impressive shoe.

Are we going to do this again? lol Personally I always thought Spy-rih-don... kinda sounded like a dinosaur to me. never considered Spee-rih-don.

Got mine a few days ago. They are now my favorite pair of VFFs. I wish I could replace all my VFFs trek soles with this new one it is such an improvement. They do stand out a bit more though so I find I get far more comments on them which is ok but worth mentioning.

I believe your accent might be holding the R heavier than it is. Spyridon is a name... [ 3 syll. (s)py-ri-don, sp-yrid-on ] The baby boy name Spyridon is pronounced SPIH-R-ih-DaaN †. Spyridon is of Latin origin. It is used mainly in Greek and Russian. The name is derived ultimately of the Roman given name Spurius (Latin) and the Latin element spiritus ('spirit'). It was borne by Saint Spyridon (270-348), bishop of Tremithous in Cyprus. † English pronunciation for Spyridon: S as in "see (S.IY)" ; P as in "pea (P.IY)" ; IH as in "it (IH.T)" ; R as in "race (R.EY.S)" ; D as in "day (D.EY)" ; AA as in "odd (AA.D)" ; N as in "knee (N.IY)"

AA as in "odd (AA.D)" That's an odd pronunciation to my ears. /ɒd/ (my bit of GB) versus /ɑːd/ (your region of USA)

Got mine! I have a gravel driveway and they do a very good job on it. I can't even try to wear my KSO's on my driveway. The Trek sole on most of my VFF's still does a better job as far as stone bruising, but I love the added protection along with the flexibility of the Spyridon sole. I would gladly give up the Trek sole for an all Spyridon lineup!!

But who knows if they are correct?

Google Translate and click on the speaker icon under the Greek spelling. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spyridon_Louis

looking forward to the days when Vibram models are called things like 'Bob', 'John' and 'Mary'..... Well, there are: - Classic
- Flow
- KSO
- Trek
- Treksport
- Speed
- Sprint
None of which cause any problems for English speakers. Perhaps a future model name could be the Bannister?
