http://minimalistandlovingit.blogspot.com/2012/02/altra-zero-drop-adam.htmlI have only had these shoes for a few days, but I cannot stand it, I have to get an initial review out.
This Company "gets" it
Support Footbed
These shoes are stunning. I can honestly say I have NEVER felt so strongly towards a pair of shoes, or a company in my life. They truly care for their consumers, they want them to be happy, but they take it to a whole other level that I cannot explain. Not only do they offer a great product for minimalist runners, they also have things in play to help those transitioning into minimalism. They offer a support footbed with more padding and a slight arch. They also include a strengthening footbed for just a touch more padding. They are fully capable of being worn without either for those who want a little more ground feel.
They offer what is easily million dollar advice when it comes to information they include. The second I saw a review on their Adams and saw the inside of the shoe box, I knew this company was going to be a competitor. Then once I got my shoes, I discovered they included a minimalist footwear guide. Which made me even more giddy as a schoolgirl. Least I can say is I was VERY excited about this company. They "get" it, they understand what it is about, they understand how to connect with their followers and consumers.
The Upper
The upper is very similar to the kso material. Except more mesh (the grey), which equals more ventilation. These shoes have a very minimal look to them with a few reflective strips placed on the pull tabs, which is a nice take from the shoes I have that have none. The strapping system is done really well. One on the top like most Vibrams, and then down on top of the foot. It makes it easier to dial in on your preferred comfort. along with a well designed toe cap. My Vibrams have suffered holes in that exact area. I am anxious to see how they will preform on a trip or toe drag.
The Sole
A Dirty sole is better than a clean one
This sole is one of the better ones I have experienced. At only 3.4mm thick thin, it transmits great ground feel, and is incredibly flexible. I have never slipped on any terrain I have been on which includes muddy grass, dry grass, concrete, asphalt, tiled floors and carpet. Not a single issue. They have the Sipped rubber that looks like tire treads just like ksos. Once again, I stepped on sugar gum droppings to test out ground feel and I could make out several "points" on the droppings. Other than the mud, there are no other marks on the sole after my 2-3 runs in them so far, which leads me to believe they will be pretty durable. Flexibility is just something you will have to see, so check out the pictures below.

As I mentioned, I have done a few runs in them so far and they are a dream. How they were compared "KSOs without the toes", I can see that and feel that. They are the most comfortable running shoes I own. The footbed feels great on the foot, the straps work like a charm, the ground is just as perfect as I remembered. What more could you want in a minimalist shoe? I mean really? And at $79.99 it's a STEAL!
So take my word for it, order a pair of minimalist shoes from my favorite company. I hope I have a chance to work with them more in the future for more of their shoes because these shoes, and their employees are one of a kind. Keep an eye on these guys. They are going to be the front runners by the end of this year. That is for sure!
