Only sandal option I know of that's that minimal is the Vivo Barefoot...which I'm not finding on their site right now, wrong season...other than that there are some Rafters brand that might be close...

part way through making mine. Cut them out, marked the holes just need to source something for the laces before making the holes.
I have gone for the leather option. Suspect the leather may be a bit on the stiff side. Version 2 already being considered.

Jason, Barefoot Ted sells laces, both leather and braided hemp, for US$12.95 (8.01 GBP). If you haven't already done so, you can check them out at: http://barefootted.com/shop/Alan

huaraches are not what i am looking for really - though i may get a pair - they would be for running - i am looking for something in the flip flop and sandal categories that would not attract too much attention - the main criteria are: super thin sole (i love the feel vff and dharma soles) and the aforementioned asthetic

HAve you looked at the terra plana dopies? I don't know how thin the soles are though. If you like flip flops there are alsways sanuks.

Just get a pair of normal sandals and use a belt sander to abrade away to the desired thickness. Then apply Kevlar layer, not sure where to get the Kevlar from though... (You can take this post seriously or humorously )

I have a strappy Wedge sandal that has a thin strap. They work well with jeans and can even be partnered with a decent skirt. I don't go for flat sandals because they are too casual, so when I am on my outdoor outfit I prefer sneakers.

Indian ones. I practically lived in them all the summers while at the University. And I guess you can still find some new-agey little shop or open market stall which sells the real all-leather ones.

Soft star moccasins have a cool pair of sandals I've been eyeing for awhile. 4mm vibram sole. My huaraches have a 4mm vibram too, but these are probably more comfortable and look nicer with the leather.

I'd also be interested in a pair of minimalist sandals/flip flops.
