I have had these for about a month now. I purchased them for a outdoor shoe to wear when it is too cold and wet to wear five fingers. I have had a pair of Merrell Barefoot Tough Gloves for about 6 months and have tried on Merrell Barefoot Trail Gloves. I am a size 10.5 in most shoes though I am a size 10 in the Tough Glove and Trail Glove. I ordered the Embark Glove in a size 10 expecting it to be the same and had to exchange them for a size 10.5. I believe it may fit tighter because of the extra material and Gore Tex lining.
The toe box is a little narrower than the Tough and Trail Glove (probably because the material isn't as flexible here). I wish the inside front of the shoe was shaped more like your feet and less like a traditional shoe. The sole is exactly the same as all of the other Merrell Barefoot shoes but it seems less flexible (most likely because of the stiffness of the upper material). The shoes are still relatively new so they may break in over time. The lacing system is just like the other Merrell Barefoot shoes as well. It is easy to overtighten the shoe so it takes some trial and error to get it just right. I think it would have been better if it had an all rubber front like the Trail Glove. Lastly, the shoe would fit my purposes if the shoes were taller in the rear (maybe a boot). I get quite a bit of dirt inside the shoe when I am in the woods and fear I will get a lot of snow in there as well.
