I just found out that SmartWool is making Toe Socks now. They just started making them from what I can tell. I ordered a pair of amazon. I got them in today. They are fantastic so far. They feel better the the Nuwool that Injiji make... like multiple times better. They also seem better made quality wise. They feel a tiny bit thicker and much softer/plush. I wear a medium in Injiji and I wear a Large in the SmartWool Toe Socks. I am hopeful that they will last longer and not fray as quickly as Injiji socks do. I will keep you guys updated on how they last after multiple wears. From a press release: Created specifically for Vibram FiveFingers® wearers, the SmartWool Toe Sock complements the colors of the Vibram FiveFingers® line, while embodying the fit, comfort, and breathability that make them classically SmartWool. SmartWool saw an opportunity to deliver an innovation within this niche, after retailer and consumer requests to create a Merino toe sock that fits seamlessly with Vibram FiveFingers®footwear.

Wow, I'll have to eventually get a pair to see how they feel. I use the Smartwool City Slicker dress socks for work and they feel great! The ones you bought, are they crew length or longer?

Those are a mini crew. They come up to exactly the height of the Bormio so just right above the ankle. They really are fantastic.

Pending a week or two of heavy use I will have a better idea how they last around the toes. Pinching the fabric and pulling it down over the toes causes it to fray rather quickly on the Injiji Nuwool. On the Injiji sport socks with the Coolmax they tend to get little strings that will come off of them if you pinch and pull down on the toes. I have taken these on and off about 5 times so far and no real change in the fabric around the toes. If they last longer then the Nuwool (which I think they will) they will officially be my go to sock. They are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo soft.

hmm... I have the lightweight coolmax injinji's and haven't had that problem with pretty regular use (two to three times a week) over the last month or so. But these smartwool would definitely be nice as far as being a little warmer. I'm gonna look into a pair.

I would put a pair of the Injiji on twice or three times a day for the past month. I noticed the pairs that I put on the most have the little strings that have a string or two loose.

Ahh... sounds like you pull yours on more than me. I don't take them on and off nearly as much. I put them on as much as any other pair of socks and they seem to be holding up quite the same as any traditional cotton.

Yea I like wearing the socks with the shoes. Not a huge fan of being barefoot in the shoes. I also find it helps keep the shoes fresher smelling longer. Luckily though I have not had any issues with smell in the socks or the shoes.

Yeah, they are nice. I've had a pair of them for about a year. Only thing I don't like about the ones I have is that they have really long toes. I don't.

Oh I thought they just came out in march or so of this year. At least that is what I was told at the store and what I could find press wise on the net. http://www.pitchengine.com/smartwool/smartwool-adds-smarts-to-its-2011-spring-performance-sock-line/130317/If you have had them for a year how are they wearing down on the toe pockets? All the socks have toes that are to long for me. That is why I end up pinching the fabric and pulling it down as snug as you can. That is what causes the frayed parts on the toes. Then I can usually smooth out the wrinkles and they fit fine. My pinky toe takes me the longest because it is so freaking short LOL.

The one thing that I find kind of a bummer is they don't have a Full Crew length size. They have micro and mini crew. I found a couple websites that had a listing for the crew size but they were listed as not yet available. I think I would prefer a crew so I could wear them with the Bormio.

A salesperson at the store where I was trying on Spyridon LS said to try these; he also got me 50% off. I bought two pairs and I wore them for about 5 minutes thus far. They're on par with the Injinji Midweight (price AND exterior feel) but the interior is coarser as well. I was only able to find two pairs of large (which is for Men's US size 9). They fit like the Injinji Rx in that they don't feel as tight as the Original weight. They are coarser than the Injinji Rx series and the Original weight but the plus side is they say that it is machine dryable. My Injinjis (original weight , midweight, and the Rx) are pilling, so I am wondering if this will have the same effect. Emailing Injinji didn't really result in any resolution of pilling. These are definitely a direct competitor to Injinji's midweight series.
