After alot of looking around I have ordered some KSO's and also some Vivo Barefoot, I can only afford to keep one so will see what suits best. So the questions:
1/ I will not be running but walking - often quite slowly with children, how will i expect my gait to change?
2/ how do I stop my feet getting really cold?
3/ |Does anyone cycle in their VFF? I worry that putting my feet down to stop might be quite painful

Thanks

so, i'm no expert, but i'll try to answer 1 & 2

1. i dont think that your gait will actually change.  barefoot and minimal footware have a big impact on your gait when you're running, but i think that you walk the same way whether you are barefoot or shod (assuming we are talking about normal shoes, not high heals or whatever).  someone will correct me if i'm wrong, but that's what i've noticed in my experience.  the one thing i did notice is that since there is no padding, my heals get blisters on long walks... i just need to toughen up my feet though Smiley

2.  i'd suggest injinji socks

good luck!

I go barefoot, but my dog wears shoes.

3. Search for cycling on the boards. Vffs aren't the most efficient for cycling or too safe if the terrain is questionable. You'll also be able to feel the pedal and that could be uncomfortable.

1. Well, my gate changed to midfoot striking. I know there are people that keep on heel striking and i don't want to talk them out of it, but if you get blisters on your heel you should maybe rethink this.
2. Vffs are notoriously bad for low-activity in cold temperatures. If you want to use one pair all year around and your winters are cold, terra plana shoes are probably your best option.
3. Why would you put your feet down to stop? I put my feet down when i stopped. But like Hawkeye said it's not the best idea because of other concerns.
