so, i'm no expert, but i'll try to answer 1 & 2
1. i dont think that your gait will actually change. barefoot and minimal footware have a big impact on your gait when you're running, but i think that you walk the same way whether you are barefoot or shod (assuming we are talking about normal shoes, not high heals or whatever). someone will correct me if i'm wrong, but that's what i've noticed in my experience. the one thing i did notice is that since there is no padding, my heals get blisters on long walks... i just need to toughen up my feet though

2. i'd suggest injinji socks
