I ran 6 miles this weekend in my VFFs this saturday and got a blister on each arch on both feet? Are my feet just soft or has anyone else got these before? I've been at 3 miles all last week and haven't noticed any hot spots before. Thoughts?

Which kind of VFFs are they? (If they're Sprints, perhaps the top strap wasn't snugged tight enough?)

They are the KSO's, I'm running again tomorrow, so I'll try it out with synching the strap so much and wear a pair of toe socks with it.

So a week later, 3 3-mile runs and a 7 all wearing injini socks and really made sure that nothing was wrinkled or excessively tight or lose and no problems. I guess I'll stick with the socks for a while, though I liked them better sans socks. I'll try that again when it gets warmer.

Hmm. I got some blister the first few times, but really I've just taken asking my feet what they mean by the different kinds of pain. Blisters tell me that my feet are weak and have taken too much of something. So I ignore it and go on. Haven't had any blisters after the first month.

I have gotten a blister only on the left foot arch, and is in an area where a seam comes together on the shoe and feels pointy to the touch. Wearing socks helps, but I don't like it as much, I may try putting some tape or bandage over it to smooth the surface. I'm running in the sprints and can't tighten them further.

I had the same thing happen with my Black/Orange KSO's I just got. In my case - Right foot got a small blister, left foot got a large blister that broke and left a small (and slow to heal) hole in my foot. (right in the arch). Until my foot heals, I put a thin piece of clear duct tape (it was what I had) over the seam in the KSO and that seems to be enough to allow my foot to heal. As soon as my foot heals - I will pull out the duct tape and let my foot get tough enough to go without it.

I get a blister in the arch right below the ball of my left foot after about 2 miles, and if I manage to go further, one pops up on my right foot, too. This happens almost every time I run in my KSOs, but hardly ever if I walk in them. I've managed to avoid this before by wrapping my foot in a couple layers of athletic tape, but it's annoying to have to do that every time I run. Any solutions?

Are you KSOs too big for you? Do your feet slide around? I used to get blisters when I wore my ksos that were too big for me, only when I ran, not when walking. When I downsized I did not get blisters while running anymore.

OK, so I am having this problem now. Last summer I ran in KSOs and injinji socks (I wore socks to help my manage VFF Funk). Over the winter I wore my Flows and learned they were warmer without injinjis. We've been having +40°F weather so I've been wearing the KSOs again, but so far this year it's been san injinjis. I have two pairs of KSOs - same size, but one seems a little more snug than the other. I've been wearing the snug pair and have gotten a little red mark on both feet. I've tried to cover that area with moleskin, but it just seems to come off after a mile or so. I tried a larger piece, same thing. Might try an even larger piece, but when it comes off it moves around inside and, while not causing any pain, it's annoying. Running in my KSOs w/o injinjis is different than with and I was planning on only wearing my injinjis when I wore my KSOs for long periods of time - like for the day. I guess I'll be using them again. I also thought about using moleskin on the seam itself, so instead of sticking it to my feet I stick in on the KSO.
I posted this in the running forum so I won't go into it again, but the good news is that I was forced to run the last part of my run today barefoot due to the pain caused by the KSO - this is my first barefoot run on pavement - Amazing.
Before running w/o the injinjis, I wasn't planning on getting the Bilklas as I just hadn't run into a situation where I felt my KSOs where lacking when I ran - but now, I'm starting to wonder. I'll be paying attention to the posts regarding these as related to this thread.

You might try sticking the moleskin to the VFF instead of to yourself. I find that works really well with shoes (of all kinds) that rub.

I really think that arch blisters are due to sizing issues. I have yet to get one blister while wearing socks, so I think my KSOs just might be a tad to large for me, I'm unfortunate in that I have no near by stores to try on a size smaller and don't really want to order a small size that might or might not work and then have to ship it back. So I'll just stick with socks and my M44s instead of ever trying the M43s.

Try a Kso in m43 in the grey/palm. It shoul dbe a little larger than m43 black KSos, but smaller than m44 black ksos. But in geenral it seems like people's VFFs don't fit after 6-12 months because they're feet either shrink or grow.
