Does anyone out there have the proper thicker soled version of the blue camo KSO's? I just received them direct from vibram and mine are unfortunately the thinner soled version of them. I emailed vibram before they were shipped explaining all about this problem but they just said that the problem didnt exist...
Well after receiving and returning a pair of thin soled blue camo KSO's from vibrams website and asking them to send me a non defect regular thickness soled shoe they have sent me another thin soled pair. The rep Suzanne DeGregorio has repeatedly denied that they have the defects unfortunatly even after I directed her to this forum.

Very sorry to hear!! Perhaps it'd help if you ask to speak to the manager? hate to use this type of threat tactic, but they are the one being unreasonable and wasting your time here..

The inconsistency is quite annoying. I own 3 pairs of classics and 2 of them have been exchanged for defects.

I looked at my KSOs that I just bought around a month ago and they are around 1mm thick. This sucks even more because I am leave for Afghanistan in a couple of weeks and dont have the time to deal with it. I will just suck it up and if I need to buy if they wear out.. oh well. I am waiting on the new komodo sport. My sprints that just wore out in around 200 mi were 3 mm thickness. I hope vibram gets this fixed soon.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I just got some Agate Camo KSO's (ebay) and they are thinned soled. I'm pretty sure they are authentic though.
Yeah, I'm bugged that they won't last as long as they should, but I have to say they are my most comfortable VFFs! (also have Smartwool Classics and KSO Treks) I guess I'll try not to wear them all the time, but it sure is hard since they are the ones I reach for first!

Sorry to hijack an old thread and I know I commented on my issue and have had responses in a diffrent thread, but I am just wondering if anyone had any luck with Vibram. Did they acknowledge this as a QC issue? Also a lot of people posted regarding specific colors having this issue. Mine are brown/brown KSOs and I definitely have the 1MM soles at the toes.

It affects all colors and models with the orginal sole (classics, sprints, ksos). I have returned my defective ksos to a B&M that i purchased mine from. It's best to try to get them checked for this defect before they ship the vffs to you, or to inspect them in person.

I popped into a running shop yesterday - they had Bikilas, TrekSports, KSOs and Classics on display. I checked out the different models/flexing the soles. Was intrigued by the Bikilas, because although they do have the little pads of tread leaving the foot slightly higher off the ground than the KSOs, the actual footbed actually seemed a little more flexible than my KSOs? (Perhaps I have quite a thick soled pair though, as I can't seem to flex my toes all that much in them)
I didn't have time to try any on, sadly. There was another shoe brand there (Can't remember which) that had at least a 7 - 8mm footbed, razor siped like on the Classic/KSO sole, but far, far stiffer. The shoe had "barefoot" in its name. How can these be barefoot?!
Anyways...

My KSOs were purchased in the fall of 2009. I ordered them on line, River City Outfitters I think. I wore them indoors only for a brief period before boxing them up and storing them in the closet, due to major pinky toe irritation. I have now gotten them back out and am beginning to put them to use when I discovered the threads on sole thickness and realized that mine are also the 1MM toe thickness. I was just wondering if anyone had ever gotten Vibram reps to acknowledge this issue and if they stood behind the product or not.
