Hello,

Has anyone tried or thought about waterproofing your VFF? There are products like this:

 http://www.aquaseal.com/suede-and-nubuck.html

which is a silicon spray. Maybe it would work better for the treks being leather than for other models, and I have some doubts about sealing the seams (although there is also this: http://www.aquaseal.com/stitchguard.html) but it may increase the water repellent properties.

Drawback: sweaty feet as it does not let out moist as well.

By now there is already the flow, but it would be interesting to get other models waterproof... or maybe some goretex inside?  Roll Eyes

BTW flows aren't waterproof, no current vff is. Try searching for this topic in the forum because it's been brought up a few times.

It's true, flows are not waterproof; Are the sides fabric or is all neoprene? If the latter, then sealing the seams may work.

Sorry, I have found now the previous threads  Cry

Aren't VFF's still considered a water shoe, from the site it appears that almost all versions of the shoe are acceptable for water sports.

Are you looking to keep your feet dry while in the water?

not really. the sprints, ksos and flows are still listed for water usage, everything else isn't. bikilas and speeds are specifically thought for running. kso treks and indoor vffs are made of leather, which makes no sense in water and they aren't recommended for it. trek sports would probably work but also are not listed for water. (non-smartwool) classics are kind of for water (although they're not listed as such) but better only for still waters.

i am guessing that one point is that it's just not that easy to waterproof the toes without making them feel weird/different. and the other is that when you actually are active it doesn't matter much whether your feet are wet or not, you're gonna be warm either way. obviously that's no longer as true if they're used for trekking and totally gone when used casually. i am sure they will at some point release a waterproof version but it's gonna be a while.
