I am new to the barefoot club. I spent hundreds on shoes with technology that was supposed to help my pronating. I have a wide forefoot and small heel/ankle. I tried Nike Lunars and while I loved the plush feeling, I was having knee issues and hip pain due to an old stress fracture injury. They just werent doing what they were supposed to do. Then I found Saucony Kinvaras. I tried them out, and LOVED them. Then a friend suggested barefoot shoes like VFF, but I couldnt bring myself to separate my toes. I ended up getting the Merrell barefoot glove, which have vibram soles. I am excited to try this out. I spend most of my time barefoot anyway, only putting shoes on to go out in public. Once home, they fly right off. I have always lifted weights at home barefoot too. So why run in moon shoes? Loving this new (to me) concept of a barefoot lifestyle.
Question for runners... Do you run distance in your zero drop shoes? Or run road-distance in something minimal like Kinvaras and short distance/trail runs in VFF? Or full time birthday shoes?
Thanks in advance for advise and answers.

Welcome, I'm in MS also, whereabouts are you? I've been going BF almost full time since May, even out anywhere, even the office! I've been doing a bit of running also. I just got my first pair of VFF's this week, along with Injinji socks to wear for winter, because I can't really bring myself to freeze my feet. I do prefer being fully barefoot, though.
Enjoy your stay here!

I am down on the coast. I use my VFFs for road running and everything else. If you like the zero drop look into VivoBarefoot. Every now and again they have a good sale or theclymb.com puts them on sale.

I'm up in NW MS near Memphis. I lived in Jackson for a year for my final 2 semesters of Mississippi State College of Architecture.
Guess we're all too spread out really to have any kind of BF walk/run/meet, oh well.

They did last year in norco@spillway. So many people complained they moved it to near baton rouge for 2012, or Watson. It's now @ Tikitubing.com

Yeah I was out in shorts and BF washing the car just a couple weeks ago in January! Just today it's gotten REALLY cold, not even above freezing all day. First time all season it's been like this. I'll probably still be BF outside while grilling out this evening, though.
