Anne Arundel county here...Fort Meade area!  I see them up here semi-consistently.  I have two guys in my neighborhood that run in them as well, and I saw a guy walking his dog this morning up the street from my house.  Had to stop and give him a shout out!

Some say keep wearing them, I say BE CAREFUL!  Look up Morton's neuroma, which develops as a continuous problem in some people, or just a neuroma itself if it remains acute.  This problem is often brought about by wearing shoes that are too tight.  I got one from my first pair of Bikilas, and was out for 4-5 weeks!  I ended up having to wear a M41 on the left foot, and a M42 on the right.  Do what you choose, just BE CAREFUL.  If you start to feel like you may be getting a stress fracture, or have any pain at the base of the toes, in between the joints, it could be due to the squeezing of the nerve bundles in between the knuckle joints of your toes.  Look it up, and check out the symptoms.  I'd just be cautious.

Is there any tingling, numbness, burning sensation in the toes or at the base, in between the knuckles?  Mine would sometimes go up my foot a little higher too.  If so, it could be the start of one.  If it is, then you should lay off barefoot walking/running for a little bit.  You actually want stiffer soled shoes, even normal running shoes to walk in until that subsides.  I know, hard to do, but you'd rather have it be acute than become morton's (continuous, on and off).

Got my haircut today.  The lady saw my shoes, commented on them, and then proceeded to make EVERYONE in the shop, customers and all look at my feet!!!  You should've seen the collection of looks, gasps, stares, and reactions.  It was all at one time uncomfortable yet fun.  These things are great, and I'm kind of a salesman by now for VFFs, so I didn't mind at all.  Wish I could've been a fly in the wall after I left though, hearing people's real opinions once the "weird guy" left!

If your uppers are tight, it can cause the neuroma.  That was my problem.  I had to go up a size, and stop any barefoot activity for 4 weeks for it to go away.  Sucks.

Sounds like something a little moleskin could help?

Mikee02, that's what I did!  Unfortunately I had bought both pairs though!  So I wear a 41 left and 42 right Bikila.  Works out great, although I wish I could've found a cheaper option than not returning the one that didn't fit!

I play disc golf, and throw sidearm as well for most of my drives.  With that being said, I tend to think that both the KSO and the Bikilas would get eaten up on his spin.  The toes probably couldn't hold up to that torque or the inevitable scrapes he'd have on the upper of the toes.  I own both models, but don't know if I'd subject them to that abuse, not to mention my own toes.  I'd think if any, the Treks, being leather, would hold up best.  Just my two cents!

I have to say, those are pretty bad a$$ looking!  If I wouldn't have just bought another pair of KSOs a couple weeks ago, my wife would sign off....paying 160 for these would probably send her through the roof!!!  I guess I can wait....don't know how long though!

Email alerts from this site, or become a friend of City Sports on Facebook, they send out updates when they restock, but you have to get em quick!

You see them wearing them onboard the ship?  If so, that's great.  Were they running, or just wearing them in their spare time?  The only thing I'd hate to think about would be VFF stank down in berthing....ewww.  And I grew up in Norfolk (save the comments!), where are you, NOB?  By the way, Go Navy!

If you're on Facebook, become a fan of the CitySports group.  They post when they replenish their stock online, that's how I got my last pair.  Hope it helps!

how were you able to get 2 different sizes in 1 pair?

When I was fitted for my KSO's the lady said my left foot is bigger, but the 43 worked fine for both, just the right went on a bit easier.

Thats what my fear is it just being too tight across the top.  I just wish someone had them in stock locally so I could try a 43 and a 44 on.  And No I dont want to spend another 108 on a 44 and send one pair back.  Well I will wear them a bit inside the house this weekend and see what I feel.

Good question!  Actually I didn't...I had the M41's initially, and the left one felt great.  It was the right one that was too tight.  So then I found a pair of M42s, ordered them, and figured if they fit I'd take the other ones back.  Well, the right one fit, but this time the left one felt too tight (even though they were a size bigger!), and my left foot kept getting numb towards the top, so instead of taking them back I just bit the bullet and now wear one from each pair.  I know, crazy to think you have to buy two pairs of shoes for the right sizing, but I did what I had to, and now I love em!  Wish I could've found an easier/less expensive route, but dealing with Bikila sizing issues is getting old, so I just dealt with it best I could!

Just be careful if they're too tight on top, in my experience, they didn't loosen up too much.  I kept running in them, and developed a nueroma (inflamed nerve).  Ive been down for the count for over four weeks!  I went a size up, and the new ones are fine.  I wear a M40 in KSO, and a M41(left) and M42(right) in Bikilas!  Wierd I know, but you do what you have to do right?
