Well I done did did it, I injured myself while running in these. I stepped on one too many jagged rocks, I busted up the left ball of my foot pretty bad. Now it just hurts to even step on anything that isn't flat. This happened about 3 days ago so I took a break. Although yesterday I did run from work to the gym which is about 1.5 miles in 10:44. Is that good? hell if I know, I been running for a while here and I haven't really been timing myself. I did about 14:00 minutes about a year ago but, that was a long time ago and that was back when I wasn't running as much. I'm also no longer running with those extra 30 pounds of stuff which, I'm not sure if thats a good thing or bad. I'm thinking I should run with all my gear once or twice a week just to keep it up.
How do I like the shoes so far? their nice. I'm getting better at putting them on and I really hope my feet get use to those damn rocks.
I think the one thing I like most about running in these is halfway through my run theres a dirt road and it's no shit ankle deep. it just feels good running through it, feeling the cool dirt between your toes, its a good feeling.
I'll have to post a pic of me carrying all my gear when I get the chance.
So i got my KSO's a few days ago. Their funny looking. It's funny cause I got the shoes and I'm like "..yeah their pretty ugly but..their suppose to help me run so..i'm running in them" and everyone at work is like "aw man, those are so cool" lol and i'm like "...yeah..their pretty ugly" lol.
Anywho, the first day of me wearing these I wanted to take it slow so, I decided to walk from work to the tents (I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan) It was about a 2.5 mile walk. Walking with these on just felt like walking without any shoes, by far the worst thing was those damn rocks. Theres rocks everywhere here and their not very forgiving on the feet.
The following day I was honestly expecting something, soreness? or something since I've been hearing how these shoes work out muscles you normally or cant workout when running in running shoes. I didn't feel anything at all, I would at least think that all those rocks poking my feet would do something but nope lol.
Well for day 2 I decided to step it up and start running with these shoes along with my 30 pounds worth of crap on my back. I ran about 2 miles. It wasn't too bad, I felt like I had to make a bit more of an effort to run in these but since I had my bag set up wrong (my m16 kept jabbing me on the side of my hip) I had to run slightly less than usual.
The following day, again I was honestly expecting something but..no dice. So I dunno what to say..
I been running over here for the past 2 months, up until recently it has gotten pretty damn hot and the shoes I was using to run were about 2 years old and were falling apart so I dont know if that had anything to do with it.
I mean its obvious too soon to tell..I guess I'll keep you guys posted and just let you know how everything goes a few months from now. The shoes are slowly growing on me..although I still feel like an idiot as I run and people just stare lol.
I dont know about you guys but I intend to wear both toe condoms and regular shoes. I think I'll mainly use the toe condoms for running and if I really like em, maybe I'll buy a pair to wear when I go somewhere.
I want to disagree with her, but also agree with, I'd especially agree with her if she was hot. chea! jk.
I dunno man, I mean I can see shit hitting the fan. I can see some thug/robber/hamburlgar or whatever the fuck thinking, looking at your shoes, them being unique as they are, and him thinking that maybe thats like a designer type of shoe, its some kind of sophisticated shoe that are really expensive? who knows, Or maybe he'll just look at you, think your an ass clown and go about your business.
Hell, I dont know exactly where your going, I mean if your going to the hood of Argentina then, hell I'd just watch what you wear in general but if your going where all the tourist are then, hell you should be alright I guess.
as I wait for my KSO to come in, I'm still running with my cheap ol' busted ass 40 dollar running shoes, their starting to rip to the point where you can see the side of my socks, and the bottom is starting to peel off, the thing is that, I've been running just fine with these shoes, I mean, I was having issues with my lower back a few months back but I think that was due to the fact that the way I had my backpack on, was causing the pain. I dont understand how theirs still tread left on my running shoes and on my boots (i'm in the military) its almost completely gone, it almost seems like my crappy running shoes are holding up better in Afghanistan then my actualy boots...oh well, I guess I'll let you guys know once I get my toe condoms in. lol
I just keep looking at the shoe and its just ugly. maybe I'll think different once I see it in person but, like I said before, I dont care what it looks like, I'm in Afghanistan for another 6 months, I been running, a lot, if this is gonna help me even more with my running then cool, I could care less what it looks like, I'm not gonna have this sudden mentality that I'm like cool or something because I'm wearing this unique shoe, if anything I"m gonna feel retarded cause, well, the shoe looks retarded lol. oh well, cant wait to get these shoes, and my asics shoes as well. .
I personally don't understand the 'ugliest' or 'stupidest' shoes ever comments, either here or on the web in general; feet are natural, nothing wrong with feet and five fingers LOOK LIKE FEET. So, why exactly are they ugly? I guess those things on the end of your arms are pretty ugly too, especially when you put those AWFUL fleece-lined leather coverings on them.
Yeah but imagine having jeans out there that have a complete mold for your penis (or camel toe) as natural as that it, It's not very appealing lol..
Sometimes when you see something, you immediately wish you could un-see it. That is where I stand with the Vibram Fivefingers sports sandals. These “shoes” are like ruggedized toe socks, with individual toes. There is no excuse for this, and by god the first person I see wearing these gets a punch to the head.
Really, I’ll suffer having to see your toes as you wear flip-flops on even the rainiest of days. I’ll even abide the recurring trend that is Ugg boots. But this is taking footwear evolution too far. You should not want the bottoms of your feet to resemble those of burn patients, which is what happens here.
I can’t find words to describe how wrong these are. This is even worse than those glue-on flip-flops. This is worse than Hitler. This is worse than a sober Lohan. This is worse than Windows Mobile. If you even think about buying these for a moment, I will strike down your kids with the Ass-Cancer of Thor. Do you hear me?
I shrieked and recoiled in terror. “Oh, my God, what is that you’re wearing?” I asked. His feet were sheathed in some kind of creepy black rubberized gorilla-feet things. “Is that a Halloween costume?”
We give you the Vibram Fivefingers. The "Barefoot Alternative" as it is marketed. They tell us that it is designed to give the wearer the feeling of freedom. Because nothing makes your feet feel more free then having each toe enclosed in small cavities.
Man thats some of the funniest shit I've read about these shoes. I think their being pretty harsh about these shoes.
I'm not gonna lie, if the design of the shoes were simply for looks, I'd probably just as hateful lol but since they actually benefit your running and, I'm a runner, I'm all for em.
The KSO's (which I just placed an order for) remind me of..
Adam Sandler's frostbite in Mr.Deeds LOL.
These shoes are just so damn ugly... although I'm not gonna lie, I do think they look pretty awesome in this picture and they do look pretty awesome on some of the users that've submitted their pics on this site.
after reading some reviews out there, I read a lot of positive things about the shoe so I decided to pick a pair up. I've realized that, as ugly as I think these shoes may be, they'll benefit my running and they look the way they look for a reason. I already bought some brand new running shoes but what sold me on this shoe was the fact that by wearing these shoes, you workout the muscles that traditional running shoes cant get to. So, with that being said, I look forward to rockin' my pair the moment I get em.
Saying hello from Kandahar Afghanistan, currently deployed here, a bit warm but overall not too bad lol. Ever since I got here I been running a lot, I been using the same old Asics shoes for the past two years that I bought for around 40 bucks. I dont really run for distance, I mainly run for endurance. I run with anywhere from 30lbs or crap to 50lbs depending whether I wear my flak vest or not. Wish I would of heard about these shoes a lot sooner, I just ordered some Asics Kayanos for like 120 bucks, Now I"m about to order some KSO's. I guess I can alternate the two. I'm curious as to see how these shoes work especially since I"m hearing it works out some muscles that you cant work on traditional running shoes..
