I can definitely say that an M40 pair of EL-Xs are tighter than the M40 KomodoSport LSs that I have.

But my next problem: Finding the right socks. Anyone know what socks would fit feet with v-arced webbing?

The socks are not going to be any problem if ther are not too small.  If the size is right, the streching is not going to be felt between the toes.

I just purchased Bikilas a couple of weeks ago (my first pair of VFF!) and I had a similar issue.  The instep felt just a little too tight, so I tried one size larger in the Women's, but they were too big.  I then tried on a pair of the Men's shoes in the comparable size as the original pair I tried on, and they fit perfectly!  I am bummed that I don't have a pair of snazzy pink and orange Bikilas, but the blue and grey ones are almost as nice 

Good for you, it is not always as easy to find such a perfect fit.

you should try to get to vibram on the phone

You should try them on, the ones in the store, and compare them both.  If the ones you bought are toooooo big, maybe you could even bargain an exchange at the local store.

Weird that such a seemingly innovative company such as Vibram has stuck with the "shrink it and pink it" cliche of women's shoes 

I fit a women's 41, so probably will not be able to get any of the men's styles I like in a size that suits anyway...bugger

If you are a w41, you can wear m40 or 41 in many models, it is just a matter on how high is your arch and thick your feet and toes are.

the moc or performa has the thinnest of them all, and is not designed to be used outdoors, is like using a leather glove on the feet, there is much ground feel; but not much resistance.
