Has anyone hear taken up evolution running? I was looking at all the methods (chi, pose, evolution) and even though they are all similar I think evolution more closely fits my style. Anyone have any experience with it?

I haven't taken an actual class in it, but I've watched the DVD many times. It seems much closer to ChiRunning with its midfoot strike. Evolution/ChiRunning right now fits my running style more than the others at the moment, but I've found that the thinner the soles of the VFFs or other minimalist shoes (or when running barefoot) the more I run closer to POSE Running with a slight tough of the heel on the ground.

Thanks. I think I have a VERY slight heel touch when I run but I am just starting and just leaning. Considering you have run 1140 miles in VFF's than I have, I take some comfort that someone else is using that style and watching that DVD. I hadn't heard about it until recently until I read a blog about how the other style make you focus on pulling your feet up as opposed to just letting them do their thing.

Has anyone else seen this DVD? I have the video in my google docs, if anyone wants to view it let me know and I will send you the link. It's a large download (360mb) so be warned.
Stupid question, but something is confusing me. If you should always keep roughly the same stride length and roughly the same tempo with your steps. How is it that you run faster or slower? It was something I was hoping they would go into but they didn't.

I'm sure that is for steady state or steady pace running. The only way to increase speed then is to increase the leg turnover (tempo) or increase stride length. Quite simple.

Actually I have been thinking about this as well .. I read that your cadence should be maintained at the same rate regardless of your speed (maybe I am mistaken) .. but stride length does not increase. So mathematically, I can't figure out how to vary the speed. The only thing I could come up with is if you increase your lean then essentially you have increased your stride length without actually overstriding and still land underneath your centre of gravity. Thoughts? Has anyone else seen this DVD? I have the video in my google docs, if anyone wants to view it let me know and I will send you the link. It's a large download (360mb) so be warned.

Yes you are mistaken, the cadence increases with the speed, while the stride should stay the same (short, of course).
