So I just got my first pair of VFFs (KomodoSports) and apparently they are against my university's gym policy because they have no protection on top (what shoe really protects you from dropping weights on your feet anyway?!)... long story short, I need the next best alternative to five fingers... Can someone make some suggestions for me to research?

I think the shoes that would be closest to VFFs are the Altra Adams or Eves. You might also check out the Inov-8 Bare-x line or NB Minimus Zero (they are available at running warehouse now) if you're looking for something more mainstream.

That's awesome, looking for who to contact ASAP. In the meantime I hope I can find a minimalist workout shoe =/

If it's your school gym... start with the gym manager, head of athletic facility, and drop one with the deans office.

The problem is that I go to a sister university and all policy is made at the main university so I have to do a lot of research just to know who to contact... I'm going to return my vibrams and get a replacement and hopefully be able to return with vibrams in the fall.

I love the inov-8 bare xf 210s and the NB Minimus Zeros, but my KomodoSport's were only $80 and both of those shoes are $110-120... I need to find some good promotional codes lol

I would still start with the people in the gym, and then go on the school directory and send to every person you can find at the main school.

Good suggestions, and I'll just add the Merrell Barefoot line to that group. Probably one of the cross trainers (True Glove, Sonic Glove) would be best, but there's no reason a Trail Glove or Road Glove wouldn't work. As to which is the best choice among these and the options listed above, I think it just comes down to fit and personal preference.

You can get 10% off at Running Warehouse with the code Runblog10. That makes the NB Minimus Zero Roads $80.95, Minimus Zero Trails $89.95 and Inov-8 Bare-x Lite 150s $80.95 with free shipping both ways.
