Well, i did it. And it went well. The VFF Treks are just about perfect for Moab - the only difficult part was on the steep downhills - as the shoe gripped and my foot slid forward a touch. Uphill traction was outstanding.
It took me 2.5 hours, which I was pretty happy with. some of the pre-research I did told MTB riders to plan 4 hours for a loop!
Garmin Trace:

Here they are just as I hit the slickrock:

this is what the "flat" parts look like:

A shot of the terrain:

Lots of nice stuff to look at:

An example of the hills there. I tried to take this pic as flat as possible to show how steep the ups and downs are. Even hiking them (not running) is a heart pounder:

Beautiful view opposite the "Shrimp Rock"

Emptying some of the sand out at mile 7:

A Mountain biker I met out there was nice enough to snap a photo of me. (You can see his thumb!) When i started at 8am it was 55 F, so I had my knickers and light jacket on. Pulled the jacket off after about 1.5 miles. Once the sun came out it got warm quickly. Put my hat on around mile 6.

My VFF Trek and Garmin at the "loop head".

Another "flat" picture (trying to hold the camera horizontal) attempting to show how steep the hills are.
