Any other VFF runners out there? I've just been getting into it over the past month, farthest I've gone in VFFs is five - I still do the majority of my training in my Brooks Axiom 3s. VFF running is so much fun, though.

I'm in a similar boat...hoping to make more of a transition soon though! My feet are bruised a bit because I ran in them on rocks yesterday but they seem to be recovering fine - they're just tender.

I don't really run that long of distances these days - maybe up to a mile in an interval, but I do enjoy running in them more than regular shoes. For me, at least, my heels never hit the ground. Yesterday morning to give my feet a break, I wore regular shoes when doing a workout. It was kind of weird trying to run in regular shoes again.
I really really dig plyometrics in VFF's, though. Although the landings can be a bit rough.

I like plyos in fivefingers, too. As for landings with them and landings in other instances, I've had to retrain my feet on how to land better. One of my new favorite activities that I get to do on occassion is leap down large stairwells by skipping 3, 4, 5 and sometimes 6 stairs at a time. It's also a lot more fun to skip stairs going up, too. I remember the first few times I fell from a pull-up bar in the vffs ... landed horribly and hurt my heels in the process. FAIL! I've since improved my technique (I think).

This is a short review on my first run with Fivefingers. I was really excited to try them out on the running part. We did a short run of 4 km. It felt better than normal running shoes I must say. I don't like ordinary running shoes. They are tight and too warm compared to VFF. I love the natural touch with the ground. It feels smooth and comfortable.
conclusion: I love these shoes even more after today and I'm definitely gonna keep using them for running. I also overcome the "shame part" of wearing them in public. It really made my day = D

I just started training in my VFFs. I did two miles of run/walk intervals. Felt amazing. I am hoping to get up to 8 miles mostly running by Labor Day but I think that is too ambitious. Will see what happens.

Good to hear it! Labor day is soon...I'd be careful. Better to progress slowly than progress quickly and get injured.

I did start to run off road in my vff's but then didnt have time to run with the club in normal shoes and off road in the vff's im hoping to correct that soon and start to pick up time in the vff's and then maybe get the courage to transition all running into vff's

Yeah I agree. I will probably do a run/walk especially on the hills. That course is VERY hilly which would be hard for me even in regular shoes.

I'm ebaying all my running shoes this weekend. I'm done with regular shoes. (not sure what the hell I'm going to do at my next funeral or wedding.) My VFF Classics paired up with ininjis has been an awesome combo. It's a little bit of a tight fit and I'm dealing with some blisters now but moleskin and Body Glide should get me through it. I'm still having to learn (unlearn) to the point where I feel like my gait is "natural." The road (as opposed to the trail) is where I notice that my feet slap the ground sometimes. From my armchair perspective on mechanics/physics I gather that sound implies friction, impact, force imparted, etc. Thus I'm driven to the thought that my footfalls are incorrectly oriented and due to a heel-strike gait that I struggle to shake, are not optimal.
I'm probably over thinking the matter. Nonetheless can anyone recommend a write-up or YouTube vid on the "natural gait?"
Best -Bump

Good luck! I have noticed this too - roads are better for developing good form (or so it seems).
