Henk Sipers tests Vibram FiveFingers Speed

Henk Sipers running a marathon in the as yet unreleased, Europe-only new model, the 2010 Vibram FiveFingers Speed.

Henk Sipers (Site: adventure-runner.tk), an ultra-runner from the Netherlands, emailed me to let me know he had a chance this past weekend to run a marathon in the as yet unreleased, Euro-only 2010 FiveFingers Speed, which is built on a new, much-anticipated running-specific VFF sole platform:

For more information on the new sole design, see this post on the FiveFingers Bikila sole. One thing you'll notice from a the photo below shot from underneath is that you get a good look at the arch portion of the sole, which employs EVA rather than Vibram rubber.

It seems that though Henk is still adjusting to VFFs, so far he's already noticed the absence of chronic aches—the kinds he had grown accustomed to after some 31 years of running. Henk got his feet in some VFF Speeds via a Netherlands import connection. Anyone else jealous?

Those are fuglier than my blue camo KSOs! Love the concept tho and will probably be in line to test drive them when they arrive in the US.

I think these could be the breakthrough VFF "shoe", since they kind of look like regular shoes and thus may be more marketable to the masses. May be easier to transition people if they can put something on that kinda looks like a standard running shoe (or "ruining" shoe, since that's what they do to my body). My family laughs every time I put on my black KSOs and "apeman" goes out running! But boy do I love 'em!
