Running in V5F since July and have been using Flow’s lately as the temperature dropped. Went out for a few 3-mile runs during and after the blizzard that hit the east coast before Christmas. My Flow’s did a much better job than I expected. Without any socks I was still able to feel my toes and continued to wear them as I shoveled later that day. We ended up getting over 18 inches here in Maryland.

The pics come from after my run on the 19th while it was still snowing and later that day with my son. I don’t expect any toddler V5F sizes to come out but it would be nice to have youth sizes in the future.

On a side note don’t wear the Flow’s indoors for extended periods as they really keep heat in. After wearing them one day at work, I teach high school business, my feet looked and felt like I had been in a tub for hours. I will stick with my Treks during the day from now on.

Five Fingers Flows definitely seem to be “the” VFF of the moment right now! Good to know that indoor-use may lead to super moist feet — I guess that neoprene insulation really packs a punch!

Looks like you’ve been putting them to good use! Wish we would get some snow down here in Atlanta. All we get is rain!

Hi Jason,

I wondered if the Flow model keeps you warm even when you are running on a road with slush and cold water?
(I am from Canada and I was thinking buying them, because it’s now too cold for my Sprint model, even with injiji socks.)

In slush and water you should be ok but they are not waterproof. My feet held up well in the snow without socks. If they start to get cold you can tighten your toes up a few times to get the blood pumping. I was definitely pleased as the temps dipped into the teens and I wasn’t stuck with total ice cubes. I have held out on getting socks because the Flow has a tighter fit but I will be getting some to try out.

Hi Jason,

Been a Five Fingers fanatic since December and being in the cold weather season when I got them I bought the Flow. I am not a runner but I use them as a daily foot wear shoe and I love them. I even went out in a 15deg snow storm in December with no sox and they performed amazingly! going for KSO and KSO Trek for my next pairs. I may never wear conventional shoes again!!

Hello Jason,
I was wondering how well the flow held up on Ice and Snow. Did you find you slipped around alot? How was the traction on the ice and snow? I live in chicago and am looking to find a pair of vibram five fingers shoes for the winter and we tend to get a lot of ice and I am afraid the smooth bottom will cause me to slip and slide a lot. Please let me know what you found related to this. Thank you.
Robert

They are pretty bad on ice as there is no traction at all but great in fresh snow. I wish the flow treks came out in the US but they are UK only. Last year I ran in bikilas all winter and my feet got used to the cold but I kept it under 30 minutes to avoid frostbite.
