1  General Category / General Discussion / Re: how many minimalist shoes do you have so far? on: July 04, 2012, 05:11:33 PM
I'm pretty satisfied with my collection for now (I'm going to need something come fall/winter).

2 KSO (gray and remix)
Bikila LS (gray and black)
KSO Trek (brown)

Vivobarefoot Ultra Pure (these may be my favorite and a great "kickaround" summertime shoe)
NB Minimus Trail Zero (4E width and a darn fine shoe on or off road)

Bordering on minimal:
2 pair of Altra Instincts

Damn body! My cardio can go and go and go..  my legs are my weak point and its frusterating.  If they could hold up, I'd run everyday.
I'm in the same boat. I'm counting the days since my last run and its depressing. Unfortunately I know its my own doing and my 280lbs+ body just needs more rest and less push.

My tendonitis is on the tendon on the outside of my heel (I forget the name) rather than the achilles, but more than a week after it developed, I can't run 3 steps w/o pulling up (or walk with long-ish strides). For the 6 months previous I didn't have a single injury. A month ago, I signed up for my first 5k ever and unfortunately it is this Sunday and I'll be sitting at home thinking how much I wish I was there and how ready I felt two weeks ago.

And now I'll end my pity party and just imagine that feeling when my VFFs hit the asphalt again. Smiley

I'm 6'4" and 290 lbs. I took up walking late last summer (when I was 315 lbs.) and slowly transitioned to running over the winter. A couple months ago I saw the KSOs at a price that I could live with spending to find out if I'd like them. I've always liked the feel of a minimalist shoe (or what i considered minimal at that time) but figured at my size I needed giant marshmallows to keep my knees from exploding. I'm glad I took the plunge and now have three pairs (KSO, KSO trek, and Bikila LS) as well as a pair of NB Minimus Trail Zeroes  on the way. I run in the KSOs primarily and wear the other two for casual wear as much as I possibly can.

I've got my first 5k in two weeks and you can bet VFFs will be on my feet.  Smiley
