The denim Classics, released only in Europe, are a stylish alternative for Vibram Five Fingers wearers. European Five Fingers fan, Dirk, gives his take on this new model:
It might be considered the Rolls Royce of the Classic family, at least price-wise, but perhaps also because of the very nice look. I’ve only recently started wearing it, somehow it did not feel right for me to wear this color in the winter. I’m noticing people generally are impressed by the look of this shoe, more so than when I’m wearing ‘regular’ colors. Somehow, the jeans look adds to the exclusiveness, and they’re more open to the concept of VFF’s.
The impressive denim model is perfect for casual wear, and if Dirk decides to go for a run or do some climbing, he will be ready for that as well.
Dirk commented on the availability of the new denim Classic:
It was the first new model available here in Europe (Spring/Summer 2010 collection), but it has been rare and fast-selling from the start. At the bottom you will find a list of dealers, but finding your size can be a tough job. A lot of vendors only have a few sizes/pairs available. Contrary to what the catalog says, it is available in both male and female versions, although the women’s version is a bit harder to find. I’ve only found one site that has the whole range available – male and female in all sizes (save M47). Some sites have only been supplied recently. One site still has backorders coming, but there are clear signs that they will soon be gone. One vendor I contacted said there would be no more deliveries (at least in his store), and two German sites even call it a limited edition. Needless to say, this only adds to the attractiveness of the ‘yellow/denim’. Vibram’s price advice is 105,90 Euros($141.09), which only diminishes the attractiveness, though most stores sell them at the regular Classic price being 89 Euros($118.57).
Dirk had this to say about sizing and care:
The shoe runs rather big (consider going for the smaller size), because the denim fabric is stretchy, and a bit thinner than other colors. My right big toe pocket is starting to show the typical denim ‘worn out’ look, and only time will tell how they will end up. The description on one site reads: can stand salt water, as well as bleaching. Not gonna try that one, though.
Thanks for the review Dirk!

grrrr…jealous – nice review dirk
Wow, these look really cool. I want to get some classics for the summer and these look awesome. I normally don’t wear blue jeans but denim suit VFF’s pretty well.
I would rather have a classic with a moc upper or a mac with a classic sole.
And ditch the rubber tab in back that just digs into my achilles tendon.
Very interesting. I would never have guessed denim as a potential material to be used within Vffs. Pretty cool. I’m curious about the longterm durability. I wonder if theses will eventually make their way to the US and if there will be a variety of denim colors.
What’s next, corduroy? :p
