Aaron sent us this cool pic of him in the machine shop with his Vibram Five Fingers KSO Treks surrounded by metal shavings and had this to say about it:
Don’t tell OSHA! I’ve been wearing my Vibram Five Fingers in the machine shop for over 2 weeks now, and I don’t miss my steel toed work boots even a little bit. This is my fourth pair of VFF’s!! My second pair of Treks in 3 weeks!! 🙂 Not because I wore them out, it’s just that I love them so much! VFF’s are the best thing I’ve done for my body and spirit in 32 years!
While Vibram KSO Treks may not meet OSHA standards, it is the only Five Fingers model made with Kangaroo Leather and a rugged 4mm cleated sole. Thanks for the pic, Aaron, and we promise not to tell.

RESPECT! That’s excellent.
geeeez, this guy is insane! he should at least wear some toe covers.
Coming next VFFs with metal toe covers!!
i understand the desire but this is seriously NUTS. what will it do for your “body and soul” if you break/fracture/god-forbid lose your toes? sorry but i just don’t think this is cool.
I work in a prototyping shop running Swiss style turning centers. All of the parts I machine are generally no larger than a dime…The photo above was taken standing atop a barrel of aluminum chips from our milling department. No fork lifts, heavy bars of steel, or anything foot crushing in this shop! =) It’s such a clean shop you could practically wear a tuxedo to work.–I just feel I needed to say this for the record. Rock On VFF’s!!
Ahaha, cool. I was working in disaster restoration about 2 years ago and i used to wear my Flows to work when we were moving furniture back/from locations or generally at the warehouse. I would only switch to normal shoes if i was doing something that was gonna get them too dirty.
Fight the power man. I’m currently fighting my highschool for the right to wear my VFF KSOs. So rock on and keep wearing them.
I currently work for an aeronautics company in Jacksonville, FL and I work on the assembly side of things. I’m a very careful individual and am pretty much aware of things when it comes to heavy objects like drill motors or lock bolt guns, but I love wearing my Trek LS’s to work. My back has not bothered me at all while wearing them. I do get looks, but it’s more, “those are cool”. I asked the company and they have no issue with me wearing them. As long as they cover the entire foot, I’m in the clear.
