Jarvis - To what extent do the power straps keep your foot from sliding over the edge of the footbed? Without the power straps, I found that on steep uphill trails (or off-trails) the backs of my heels were on the ground, on steep downhill the tips of my toes, and on steep side slopes (definitely off trail) the sides of my feet.
I'm more than a little doubtful that ankle straps could make much of a difference.

Ted,

The power straps make a huge difference in all directions!

I was quite surprised by how secure my feet felt with them.

I would say that my feet feel about three times more confident than without them, which is quite the accomplishment of design, since they are so incredibly simple.

Great bang for your (ten) buck.

Mats,

No, the eclipse are still in stock for both men and women. I was very excited to check them out during the latest vivobarefoot sale.

The extra straps make a big difference. I've been using the extra 'power' straps from my luna sandals on my JC and it keeps them very secure to my foot. The Shamma JC are, in my opinion, the best of the four or so sandals I've purchased, but still not as good as VFF for running.

The Shamma's look great. I've been wearing my old unshoes Wakova's all summer, but the 3mm soles have a hole in the heal. Next summer I'm going to need something new. The 5mm seems a bit thick after the 3mm, but if you say the ground feel is good, that might just seal the deal. Thanks!

Hi Justin. I spoke too soon regarding my recent Eclipse comment. While I absolutely love the way the sole feels on my foot I can not keep the strap in place when walking even at a slow pace. The slide near the buckle on top of my foot does just that, it slides down slowly until my foot is lifting right out of the shoe. I tried everything and decided to return them for a refund. Bummer, love the way the sole feels.Thanks. Kevin

Hey Jarvis!

So in another one of your reviews you answered my comment and said that you had a pair of the hemp earthrunners you were testing. I'm between the new hemp ER Circadians and the Shamma Warriors. I wanted your opinion in which sandal fulfills what I'm looking for better. Here are some things in which I would like to know which is the better performer:

- Better footbed traction (foot to sandal connection) my feet tend to slide around on my Gladsoles.
- Overall durability (Straps and footbed) I've ripped the rubber on my Gladsoles once and the straps twice so I want to have more durability.
- Lateral movement. I do all sorts of sports/running/hiking in sandals so I want a sandal that can give me great lateral movement. The Shamma power straps intrigue me in this way.
- Overall comfort (I want to be super active in them but also wear them casually)

Sorry for all the questions! I just want to make sure I pick the right one.

Thanks,

Mike
