My VFF Story
Lindsay

I had chronic knee problems since I was 11 years old. I played sports through middle and high school, all while fighting the pain and weakness in my knees. When I was in my early twenties, I was diagnosed with Patella-Femoral Syndrome. I did physical therapy for about a year and started implementing yoga into my everyday life. None of this would completely take my pain away.

After my second child was born, I decided to get serious about fitness again, so I hired a personal trainer. He introduced me to the idea Vibram Five Fingers, and I thought, “why not?” I acquired a pair of KSOs shortly thereafter and I was hooked! Coach Jake eased me into them and taught me how to avoid injury. After a few weeks, I noticed that my knee pain had significantly decreased. So I did what any exercise enthusiast would; I kicked it up a notch. Suddenly, I was running 5ks, 10ks, and a 12k! Mind you, I’ve never been a runner before in my life, but those darn toe shoes seemed to have liberated me! After a few months, I realized that I’ve run farther than I ever have before; I’ve accomplished more than I thought I could in this life time and it’s all due to Vibram Five Fingers!

A few weeks ago, I decided to test myself just a tad bit further. I signed up for PA Fitcamp’s first ever 7 hour boot camp. I just wanted to see if I could stay on my feet that long while basically training like a grunt for 7 hours. Not only did I finish the whole 7 hours, but I was able to do so with my KSOs! My knees were only slightly sore afterwards (and rightly so!), however it wasn’t at all significant and I was able to go for 3 mile jog the next day!

Vibram Five Fingers have changed my life for the better, and I no longer worry about my physical limitations. I have decided to do a few triathlons this year in my VFFs and I’m really looking forward to the new product line next month!

Thanks Lindsay and Coach Jake! Check out Jake in these great pics from a previous article on hiking in the Pacific Northwest.

Fitness enthusiasts have a reason to celebrate in 2011. Vibram released the Komodo, Jaya and Jaya LR models which are specifically designed for cross training and fitness. You can check the availability of these and other Vibram Five Fingers products from top online retailers in our store.

Hailing from College Station, Texas (Home to Texas A&M!), I grew up running cross country. Believe it or not, I gave Justin the name for this site back in early 2009 but I didn't jump on the toe shoes bandwagon until a year later. I am also really into quadcopters and drones and have a blog called OddCopter.com.
